My goal, always, is to develop directions to test for reproducible evidence:<\/section>\n<section class=\"widget widget_text\">\n<ol>\n<li class=\"textwidget\">Thoroughly research<\/li>\n<li class=\"textwidget\">Be skeptical when observing puzzling clues<\/li>\n<li class=\"textwidget\">Delve into the depths &#8211; wherever avenues take you<\/li>\n<li class=\"textwidget\">Allow for serendipity &#8211; develop If\/Then hypotheses<\/li>\n<li class=\"textwidget\">Propose &amp; design methods to test for evidence<\/li>\n<li class=\"textwidget\">If archaeological, report sites to public &amp; scientific authorities<\/li>\n<li class=\"textwidget\">Design &amp; execute experiments that can be independently reproduced<\/li>\n<li class=\"textwidget\">Secure and professionally manage the evidentiary-data-collection-trail<\/li>\n<li class=\"textwidget\">Analyse the results for supporting &amp; contradictory evidence<\/li>\n<li class=\"textwidget\">Publish the report to authorities<\/li>\n<li class=\"textwidget\">Ask more questions<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>The scientific method<\/strong> &#8211; <em>f<\/em><em>rom <a href=\"http:\/\/www.livescience.com\/20896-science-scientific-method.html\">livescience.com<\/a><\/em><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;When conducting research,\u00a0scientists\u00a0use the\u00a0scientific method\u00a0to collect measurable,\u00a0<strong>empirical evidence<\/strong>\u00a0in an experiment related to a\u00a0<strong>hypothesis<\/strong>\u00a0(often in the form of an if\/then statement), the results aiming to support or contradict a\u00a0<strong>theory<\/strong>. The steps of the scientific method go something like this:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Make an observation or observations.<\/li>\n<li>Ask questions about the observations and gather information.<\/li>\n<li>Form a hypothesis \u2014 a tentative description of what\u2019s been observed, make predictions using that hypothesis.<\/li>\n<li>Test the hypothesis and predictions in an experiment that can be reproduced.<\/li>\n<li>Analyze the\u00a0data\u00a0and draw conclusions; accept or reject the hypothesis or modify the hypothesis if necessary.<\/li>\n<li>Reproduce the experiment until there are no discrepancies between observations and theory.&#8221;<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><i class=\"wp-svg-brightness-contrast brightness-contrast\"><\/i> \u201cReplication of methods and results is my favorite step in the scientific method. The reproducibility of published experiments is the foundation of science.
