Introducing asymmetric efficiencies that redefine industry unit economics
Examples – Documented record of applied first principles’ problem-solving across domains. Each entry has an external anchor — a validation, a response, a measurable outcome, or a timestamp that predates others working on the same problem. Organised by event.

(2026) – Venice Lagoon: Concept developed and sent to Italy 2020, published publicly 2026. Using the sea to defend the city from the sea: A Ring-wall fortress lagoon using aboiteaux, Tesla valves, and tidal hydropower. Notified space industry contacts that this becomes an analogy for off-planet colony builds. Notified U.S. contacts that Galveston, TX is a U.S. analog.
(2014-2021) – “Search for Extraterrestrial Garbage” (SETG): SETI Technosignature Search Protocol: Wrote and published in a day and then updated, after spending seven years hunting for a scientist collaborator. Added to UCLA course reading list 2023. Validated as “original” by NASA exoplanets manager and candidate for JWST search slots, 2025.
(2017) – Labour-to-Cash Conversion: As a citizen historian, solved the mystery of a lost trail on Vancouver Island. There was pressure to donate notes writing time to the local government (my estimate $100K). I said No, eventually worked out how to convert Labour-Expense-to-Cash. Networked to Tax Minister’s Office, which claimed no authority per Federal Court.
(2017-present) – Proximity of Desire: Restructured the nature of the nature of public real property and the commons, to quantify the value of public real property and the commons. Developed by reimagining Magna Carta (1215) and the Statute of Merton (1235) and merging this with “first principles economic forces (human desire to obtain something)” ie. Human Desire for the Degree of Nearness (“Proximity” to/from public services). Applied by test cities to budget 1% of municipal spend. 1st municipal use case: Canada-wide $1.7B market. POD can be applied to all common law countries, opening up ecological, real property valuation, bottom-line and arbitrage market segments.
(2008-2015) – WarriorHealth CombatCare — PTSD as neurochemical addiction: Validated by global audio leader + IP seizure attempted by two Tier-1 universities. Open-sourced to thwart the attackers and to continue the dual-use mission.
(1993-1994) – Designing the controls sequence: In-Mind CNC Problem-Solving, Remedial Adult High School courses for Industrial Design college prep. Machine shop: Built a 7-sided part on machine engineered to stop at 6 sides. * Problem: Can I mill a 7-sided part despite it being manually operated with x,y,z handles? * Solution: Analysing the permutations & pre-wrote spatial CNC logic sequences in-mind between classes. * Impact: Built part in 45 minutes: Sawn in two to continue production of Salt & Pepper Shakers. * https://davehuer.com/bcitfolio/innoprojects/inno-shaker.html
(1993-1994) – Solving the nuclear fusion ignition sequence in a week: Remedial Adult High School course for Industrial Design college prep. It was not hard. Interesting though. The CNC problem was hard. PhD physics instructor secured the paper for federal authorities.
Labour-to-Cash Conversion – An Innovator’s Story
This is not just a philanthropic tax credits cost accounting problem. It was a chain of solutions:
- Outside venturing, as an amateur caver, I’ve had a history hobby.
- Solving history mysteries involving caving and karst (water-soluable geology).
- After 4 years, solved the mystery of the lost Horne Lake Trail.
- Found the misidentified lost 1856 HBC map + 1857 Royal Navy survey.
- The map shows the trail route and affects three overlapping First Nations treaty claims.
- A portage usually is a trail between lakes. In the Horne Lake pass, the Lake is the portage.

Donation Pressure
- Local government spent $800K to rebuild the modern “ancient” trail as a Heritage Trail.
- Got pressured to “donate” my time to write notes for local government.
- My estimate was $100K of private time. I said No. More pressure to “donate.”
The Tax Credits Idea:
- Asked for tax credits to get compensated, this was refused. More pressure.
- Discovered Canadian philanthropic tax law only covers real property — not labour.
- In 4 months, solved the logic to convert volunteer labour expense to a cashable tax credit.
- Networked to my MP’s office (AG of Canada / Minister of Justice / First Nations chief).
- The MP’s staff immediately saw the impact potential for volunteering and local history.
- Their office networked me directly to the Tax Minister’s office.
- It could not act because of decisions of the Federal Court.
What this actually illuminates:
- Not just labour-to-cash conversion.
- This solved how to price the invisible economic value of volunteer labour.
- That’s a paradigm shift in how the labour of the commons is valued, mined, and employed.
