[ie. Romans “re-settling” a Briton landscape]. Whilst watching the show, I got to wondering about the lay of the landscape; why the Romans would locate a villa on the ‘high value’ bottom land of the holding, where the manor house later got built?

The first recorded mention of the house is 1479. The time of interest here is 1,000 to 1,400 years before that.
